Etsu Nupe Announces New Schedules For Nupe Day

The Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has disclosed that the rescheduled Nupe Day celebration will now hold between 13th and 15th December maintaining that the kingdom is ready to host the world during the 10th anniversary of annual Nupe Day, in Bida

He spoke during a press briefing to announce the date at Wadata Palace Bida yesterday that the preperations are in its final phase with activities starting from the 13th to 15th of this month.

Etsu Nupe who is also chairman of Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers rolled out schedule of activities which included Lecture on the 13th of December at IBB University Lapai by 10 am.

Etsu Abubakar said, “The activities will continue with a marathon race which will attract mainly interested Nupe athletes without age barrier. In the evening it will feature horse racing competition which will attract participants from the Northern Turf Clubs as invitations have been extended to them. It will be followed by cultural and award night where sons, daughters as well as friends and well wishers of Nupe Kingdom would be appreciated.”

The royal father who expressed satisfaction with the level of commitment and performance put together by all members of the Central Organising Committee stressed that this year’s edition would attract Royal Fathers from all parts of the country as the Oba of Lagos would play a prominent role especially on the final day where some individuals would be appreciated with a traditional title and a turbaned.

Etsu Nupe, stressed the need for sons and daughters of the kingdom to maintain peace and harmony with their kith and kin where ever they are will extend the same gesture by witnessing the annual Bassange Day scheduled for the 26th and the 27th of this month at Gboloko in Kogi State

Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, went down memory lane by rolling out some of the major achievements attained since the commencement of this annual festival to include the establishment of Nupe PAN Cultural Organisation headed by Major General Idris Garba, Nupe single means of identity, as well as Nupe Cultural Resources Centre and also establishment of Nupe Museum would be actualised next year.
