A security guard, Amos Jettus, who allegedly punched his colleague’s face and bit his fingers, was on Wednesday brought before a Yaba Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Jettus, 25, is standing trial on a two-count charge of assault and breach of peace before Mrs. Oluwatoyin Ojuromi.
According to the Police, the alleged incident occurred at about 11pm on December 26 at Oluloya Street, Ajao Estate in Anthony village, Lagos.
Prosecuting Sergeant Godwin Oriabure said following a quarrel between Jettus and his employer. Jettus assaulted the complainant, Joseph Otigba, who was invited as a peacemaker.
Oriabure said: “The defendant was a security guard at a house on the street while the complainant was also a company security guard attached to the estate.
“Otigba was invited because of a quarrel between the defendant and his employer, which was disturbing the whole street.
“When complainant attempted to intervene, the defendant gave him so many fist blows on his face and also bit two of his fingers.
“He also tore the complainant’s uniform; we have three witnesses, who can testify to this.”
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 168 and 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Jettus pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate Ojuromi, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in the like sum.
She adjourned till February 26.
